Green Lipped Mussel became of first interest when it was noticed that Maori living in coastal regions who regularly consumed these mussels were benefitting.
The Green Lipped Mussel differs from other mussel species in that it has a dark brown/green shell, a green lip around the edge of the shells and only has one abductor muscle. It is also one of the largest mussel species growing up to 240mm in length.
Vitamin C also has a myriad of other benefits.It contributes to the normal function of the immune system and is an antioxidant which contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
